Anger

Anger is just an emotion.   On its own it is neither good nor bad.  However, what we do (or don't do) with our anger can be detrimental to our physical health, emotional state, relationships, and overall functioning.

  • Mismanagement of anger is linked to health problems such as:

- High blood pressure
- Insomnia

- Headaches
- Muscle pain
- Digestion and stomach problems
- Skin problems
- Anxiety and depression

- Addictions
- Hear attack
- Stroke

  • Mismanagement of anger can also be the cause of:

- Problems keeping a job
- Problems maintaining friendships
- Problems maintaining intimate relationships
- Domestic violence
- Road rage/ automobile accidents
- Legal problems

- Murder/ man slaughter/ suicide

  • Mismanagement of anger has two main expressions:

- Anger outbursts or explosions
- Ager suppression or bottling up

· Anger is a secondary emotion.  It normally comes from other emotions such as hurt, fear/anxiety, disappointment, frustration, guilt and loneliness.  When you'll decide to explore anger management with Life Balance Counseling, you will learn how to :

- Understand the origins of your anger

- Take care of the emotions that cause anger

- Identify triggers and warning signs

- Identify unhelpful beliefs that contribute to anger mismanagement

- Create a safety and action plan

- Express your emotions in ways that are respectful to you and others

- Use variety of techniques to increase sense of calm, comfort and self-control in the long run.
